Home > Creating Vignettes in Empty Houses
Vignettes inspire buyer's imaginations for houses that are emptySometimes circumstances require you to move out of your house before it is sold and it's not possible to leave your furniture. Empty houses are almost, not quite, but almost as bad as cluttered houses. Empty rooms don't have any scale and leaves the prospect wondering if their furniture will work. What do you do? The secret is to rent furniture specifically for this purpose. You don't need to do every room in the house, but the dining room and living room are the two most important rooms to have some furniture in place. For the living room you will need a sofa, some lamps, some inexpensive pillows. For end tables you can purchase some inexpensive decorator tables and throw a round table cloth over it in an appropriate color. These tables usually have 3 round legs that screw into the underneath side of a round top. Dining room tables can be as simple as a folding utility table or card table with a sheet draped over it, a nice center piece and some inexpensive dinnerware and napkins laid out in an attractive manner. In the master bedroom, you can use an inflateable bed with some attractive pillows and covers. In the bathrooms, hang some attractive towels, arrange some new bars of soap in a glass bowl. It doesn't take a lot of furnishings to create the illusion of a furnished house. The idea is to create little vignettes in the main rooms to set the scene for prospects and for them to get a sense of scale of the room. |
