Bathroom staging hides the day-to-day necessitiesBathroom staging is really just bare essentials. Cleanliness is crucial. There should be no scum or mold anywhere. Counters, sinks, toilets, shower curtains, shower doors, mirrors and soap containers should be sparkling.
Put away ALL the day-to-day necessities so the countertops are clean and clear. Empty out the medicine cabinet of everything but the very basics. Make sure you have new toothbrushes and a new tube of toothpaste.
Hide the waste basket. It takes up space and even the fanciest waste basket will give mixed feelings to anyone seeing it. You're trying to give a positive image to an important room and not have people thinking about your garbage. If you don't have nice matching towels, splurge here and buy some just for the showings. Keep hand-towels for everyday use out of sight. Shower curtains should be new. No fancy prints, in fact, plain white curtains are highly appealing and will never look dated.
If you have a luxury bathroom, with an attractive tub, create a simple vignette with towels, bath soap, and candles. Give your baths that "Five-Star" hotel look. Add thick, white, luxury hotel towels, extra hand towels at each sink and a container of those hotel goodies -- scented reeds or scented candles, and cotton-ball, Q-Tip, holders. The most important aspect of the bathroom should be absolutely spotless from top to bottom and kept that way as long as the house is on the market. |
